Grass Trimmers – also referred to as weed eaters, string trimmers or weed whackers are useful and commonly used tools. Because these trimmers are common, their hazards are often overlooked or minimized. The whip itself can cause significant cuts. Most of the injuries are lacerations to the fingers, hands, and legs and foreign objects, lacerations, and contusions to the eyes. Other injuries can include strains and sprains. Most grass trimmer injuries are avoidable and are due to operator inexperience or inattentive or improper handling of the trimmer. This training is valuable for anyone who will be using a grass trimmer either at home or in the workplace and is especially beneficial to new, young or inexperienced workers.
